Soldiers Are Innocent Until Proven Guilty

Sgt. Bowe Bergdhal Himself!
We have heard a lot about the return of Sgt. Bowe Bergdhal. The exchange cost the United States five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba according to CNN. Why was he a captured in the first place? This is where the disagreements begin. Some of the soldiers in his platoon say he dropped his weapon and left post without saying anything. This lead to a search for the sergeant causing several soldiers deaths. So they say he is a deserter. That being the main reason why he was captured in the first place. Whether he was or wasn't does this mean he's worth less than another soldier? Opinions are rising.
Mine? Absolutely not! It is easy for us, in the safe zone, to critique a situation like this. How can we even begin to understand what they go through in their heads? Video games have a great way of making us feel like calls to duty are a great past time, I assure you they are not! These soldiers are going through stressful life-threatening situations. We must support them until we are absolutely certain that they have committed a crime against the country. Propaganda and hear-say are not enough.
Obama said it best at his news conference from Poland Tuesday. "This is what happens at the end of wars [...] Regardless of the circumstances, we still get an American soldier back if he's held in captivity. Period."
What if the government listened to hear-say and come to find out the story was misplaced? Don't let the media convince you of anything without evidence. America brings it's soldiers home, and consider them innocent until proven guilty. This is the opinion of one man.
